What or who is your favorite product mascot? Why?

Beard Papa, hands down. Years from now, when I can't eat Beard Papa because my cholestorol for some strange reason is 538, and my liver has to be milked because it's full of egg whites, I'll still love that damn mascot.

I think this question is devised as a test of one's sociability, but I would disagree with conclusions. Playing with people can be just as interesting as talking to them. Sometimes when we're in our practice room and we're just, uh, jamming, there's this moment of relating to each other that develops. Sometimes it's "wow, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to do that" but other times it's "hey, that sounds really neat when you do that one thing while I do this thing...yeah, that feels great..."

Playing any instrument, to me, would be far more satisfying since:

1. You can play with anyone, regardless of language
2. Though concepts and the "language" of music can be simple, the feelings and emotions can greater than anything small talk could ever produce

What was your favorite candy when you were a kid? How does that compare to now?

I had a tooth come out while eating Now & Laters, ever since then I stay away from any candy that might do this. You could say it's an irrational fear, but there you go.

My favorite candy as a kid was a Annabelle's "Rocky Road". I could wolf the entire candy bar down before I made it to the parking-lot.

This seemed to be a big deal when I was a kid. Plus it was soft and wouldn't pull out my teeth.

using it alongside NetNewsWire just because I like the way it works and feels. I didn't really intend on buying it until that damn nag screen finally nagged me into Paypal. The only thing stopping m

e from full-time use is the lack of syncing. But still, I sure do like how it works, and for $18 I don't have to get nagged every 20 minutes.

Testing Vox To TypePad Posting

SixApart released some Vox (¢) updates today, and one of them is a big one, cross-posting to TypePad. Just checking out if this works.

QotD: Brush with Celebrity

Michael Jackson at the Beverly Hills Library right before he was taken to court (that first time) and right before he did that statement with the false eyelashes.

Oh and he had two boys with him and several body guards. He wore a surgical mask and high-water pants.

Best. Fireworks. Ever.

Tonight, hands down, was the coolest fireworks display I've ever seen.

We sat on the cold grass in Dolores Park and watched as people just brought out their own roman candles, cherry bombs, insane multi-color exploding bottle rockets, and sparklers, and just let them loose all around us.

In the distance the city sponsored fireworks displays were going off, but having regular people running the show was much more fun. You never knew if a bottle rocket was going to be a massive explosion or a small pop, or when someone was going to drop a cherry bomb in a trash can.

We then walked over to Linda St. and watched this guy set off some fireworks stacked on some step ladders.

The grand finale ended up being FOUR of these things going off at once, and two cops showing up to break up the fun. But since the fireworks were already started they had to wait until it was over before telling us to take our beer inside.
